Twitter's image sizing is oddly undocumented for a platform that serves billions of images daily. I've compiled the exact dimensions that actually work — tested across mobile apps, desktop, and the web interface.

Timeline Post Images

Recommended: 1600 × 900 px (16:9)

This is the sweet spot. Twitter displays timeline images at roughly a 16:9 ratio on desktop and a taller crop on mobile. Uploading at 1600×900 gives Twitter enough resolution to look sharp without triggering heavy compression.

Minimum usable: 600×335. Anything below that looks like a thumbnail.

Header / Banner Image

Recommended: 1500 × 500 px (3:1)

The header crops differently on mobile vs desktop. On mobile, Twitter shows a narrow horizontal strip — maybe 150px tall. On desktop you get the full 500px height. Put important content in the center 600px width to survive both crops.

In-Tweet Photo (4 Images)

Each image: 1200 × 1200 px minimum
